If weather permits, I will be driving it to St. Enodoc in Cornwall tomorrow (150-mile round trip) where I am playing a 36-hole Mixed Open competition.
My wife and I were staying in Trebetherick around the corner from St Enedoc. We walk the dogs there when we are down. Plan to be back in September for 2 weeks. Glad you had some great weather this weekend. Managed to squeeze a drive of some 25 miles around Poole and Bournemouth in our Stag after we got back from Trebetherick this afternoon.

I took the Triumph Stag to the Cottenham, Cambs, (Cancer Research) historic vehicle tour where we (278 vehicles) drove round several Cambridgeshire villages with half hour mini -display stops at 3 villages before ending up on display returning at Cottenham Green in Cottenham.

This was one of the most remarkable classic car events I have attended. All along the route there were spectators often in deckchairs etc outside their homes waving to every car! On the approaches to the mini dispay areas the spectators were often 3 deep!
      Will defo go next year!

Usual trip to the Kart track this morning witn boy, we suffered rain, snow, sleet and sun while there and bitter cold most of the time so sadly not a roof down day.
Trip to Sainsburys in the afternoon for the vittles - nothing else too exciting but just to be in it and using it is simply brilliant!

Just looked at it in the garage when I got home from working in Copley up in t'north, blooming cold up there!
So couldn't join drive it day and was surprised at how few classics I saw on the roads. Did see a very nice MGB V8 though.

For the first time I can remember, I wasn't able to use one of my Triumphs on Drive It Day as yesterday was my wife's 50th birthday. I was told that Triumph descended on the garden centre only a mile from our home - so close, yet so far!

Bereft of a Triumph of any description.

Hi Nigel. Yesterday was my first visit to St. Enodoc. I took my Stag and was on the road before 7am. Fabulous courses with stunning views in glorious sunshine (albeit with a brisk, chilly wind). Got home at 8.30pm and fell asleep in front of the telly before 9.30. Slightly kn***ered this morning.....

Not today but yesterday (Drive It Day)
Started off in sunshine hood down. Set of into the Peak District. Ran into rain at Castleton and as we drove up onto the moors sleet. Chickened out and stopped to put the hood up. As we returned home the sun came out again so down came the hood and we returned home as we set off "topless"

It was all going so well.... On our way to meet the other W Sussex Stags at Rudgewick for Drive-it-day doing a comfortable 55-60 on the A24 and thinking what a joy it is to be driving a Stag on this Spring morning until the engine just stopped. Had a problem with the petrol pump last week so gave it a bit of a tap and she started again for all of 60 seconds then nothing. Spent the next 40 mins waiting for the tow truck.

Brilliant service from Westbourne Motors two of them turned up. The guy with the tow truck recovered the car to the nearest Shell Garage and the second guy spent best part of an hour finding the fault - suspected issue with the relay and got her running again. I really didn't expect that, last time I shed a fan belt on the M11 the recovery people took nearly two hours to send someone who just towed me more than 100 miles all the way home. Big thanks to Westbourne.
By now nearly mid-day and more than a bit disillusioned so back home with our tails between our legs!

Spoke to Bob H later in the day - they had 14 stags (nearly 15) and had a great day by the sound of things. Bob's wisdom is to suspect the inertia switch, so spent some time cleaning that out and re-fitting (she still runs so that bit worked) and will now do a few shortish trips to see if it's solved the problem - (have to get it sorted before Clackets Run)

Glad to see so many had rather better experiences for D-i-D

Yes, a pity about your problem Gordon, I might have been able to talk you through it and get you going again but sod's law, I left the mobile at home. As you say we had 14 Stags out with SEL joining us, One had to go back home unfortunately due to domestic reasons and one had a broken alternator belt and limped into the meeting point, but between us we got him mobile again with a replacement belt. Apparently two more went straight to the finish at Tangmere as they were late starters, but after me trying to book lunch at the Bader Arms pub unsuccessfully as I later found out it had been turned into a Co-op, we diverted and finished at Fontwell where we had the 2010 national day. So we would have had a few more if all went to plan. Brilliant run though, with the sun shining all the way and not as forecast. We got caught up in a time warp at one point with 3 separate runs all converging at the same place at the same time, some interesting cars out for the day.

Hi Gordon, I made a short link, too link out the inertia switch if it gives trouble , but only to be used as a diagnostic tool or in a emergency. Do not run for long as if you are in a accident the fuel flow will not cut out and your insurance may not pay out, but it may get you to a safe spot to have a proper look at the switch.

I drove from Bristol to Northampton and back. 240 miles, too cold to have the top down! About 8 gallons of unleaded (36 litres for you young 'uns).

I really need to get Chard Engineering to make me a new propshaft.

Passed MOT today. One advisory slight play in O/S front wheel bearing.

However setting off on return from MOT noticed rev counter stuck at zero -sure it worked when I arrived

Also on arrival back at home and parking in garage noticed that puddle lamp on o/s door was not working. Also found same lamp on n/s door also not working although both interior and footwell lamps came on on open/shut of doors. Again were both defo working on Sunday.

Sure these faults are not related but my obvious response for this thread tomorrow will be "set to with multimeter - again!"

Great Idea! ... If it was a bit longer then it could be useful in diagnosing many electrical faults as it could be used to direct supply and circumvent wiring loom/plugs/sockets and certain components for test. Would recommend that an inline fuse holder with perhaps a 20A fuse is included.

Those puddle light wires can be loose at the dash switch.
