[QUOTE=HersnotHis;352758]Can I ask how you will get them properly aligned? Previous (earlier) classics I have owned have had instructions on how to make a beam target in their manuals for alignment when the headlights are at a certain distance from the target. Have not found similar in the Stag documentation ? Am about to swap my sealed beams (Yes sealed beams) for new bowls with Philips extra halogens, but do not have a clue how to align them other than "that looks ok"
Any advice greatly appreciated.
hi im going back to my MOT test station ,the guy said if I wait there will be a gap between appointments so he can get me on the ramp in front of his light test box they one they use for mot tests and alignment. the method of which you speak is one I recall many many years back doing on an old mini I marked a horizontal line on my garage doors and two vertical intersecting lines and as you said at a certain distance adjust , that is not quite accurate enough for hids ive been told . you could set up to start but if you are not removing bowls it shouldn't be to far out and maybe a visit to your garage will correct them if they are .

Beautiful early mk1 white tv8 mod? MGB GT and now looking for another V8
You take it to a garage that has a beam checker. I think they stopped setting up headlights with a couple marks on the wall in the 60's
They weren't just a couple of marks on the wall but had circles and centre +'s for main and dipped. Why should I have to pay a garage for what seems to be a simple job given the right info?

Because it's not such a simple job and needs specialised kit.
please get decent reflector units such as Wipac or Valeo, there are so many rubbish ones with poor beam patterns available.

My mot place has appointments on the hour and last 45 minutes, so he always says come in at quarter to the hour as should be just finishing a test.

Why indeed, I cant understand why they stopped doing that.
Fitted the newly rebuilt tube-in-tube propshaft which I collected this morning from Chards. Drove the car home via the M32, top down, vibration-free. Result!

Serious expensive kit when new (with the add on modules around a grand!), tech moves on, still works fantastically and can be now picked up on eBay for very little money.
