New alternator delivered to work (excellent service from Stuart - SOC Spares; other suppliers are available) and installed this evening.
Things have brightened up a great deal.... . Shiney lights. I like shiney things....
Drove it to the local tip (no; not to dispose of it.... ) with a sack of garden green waste on the back seat. It leaked all over the back seat. The back seat, now, needs new foam.....
The miserable b*gger at the tip closed the gate just as I arrived saying they were shut at 2000. I pointed out it was 1958. He pointed out he was still shut.
I lobbed the sack over the fence and drove off....
Sounded really good as I set off quite briskly. (the car; not the miserable ar*e behind the gate.... .)
image.jpgGot myself loaded up ready for an early start to Le Mans tomorrow - almost everything including the kitchen sink (well a washing up bowl anyway)
Just praying for a good weather, good racing and an uneventful drive there and back - I have the best company a Stag owner can have so lots of fun is a sure thing
Hope I didn't upset anyone today bidding just over £300 on eBay for a boss screen. I couldn't make up
my mind if I want mesh or clear so now I have both.
Looking forward to trying it out.

While my wife's car is away at a Garage having some repairs, been using the Stag as our daily transport instead. Seems the new alternator is charging the battery fine, and the studs I put in the head to hold the power steering assembly are doing their job.
Today went to the Doctors to get the results of a blood test 10 days ago, as I have to have regular PSA readings to monitor my prostrate cancer. For the 1st time the readings are below 4.0 (3.97 in fact) which indicates everything is fine (better than ever in fact), so nothing needs to be done apart from having another blood test in 6 months time.
Might have a pint or two at Happy Hour tonight, all I need now is for my bodywork man to ring me up to tell me to bring my Stag in to have the bubbles in the drivers door seen to, and touched up to remove the stains left by lighted cigarette ends thrown off balconies by careless holidaymakers onto the car park below.
Polished mine and it's packed full of camping gear. I'm off to Le Mans tomorrow and meeting up with some unsavoury types from the Forum Like Russ, I too am hoping for good weather, good racing and a very un eventful journey there and back.
