Nice setting for the Stag, which looks great by the way.
Your Mother has good taste - I had an Austin A40 and an Austin Mini-Cooper - the A40 coming first.
Drove the A40 through France all the way to the Costa Brava in Spain without any problems back in the early 1960's. I remember in those days in France drinking Dubonnet (have I spelt that right) and Pernod.
My current favourite read are George Simenon's Inspector Maigret's novels, which in my opinion picture France very well (as it used to be).
I have early recollections of driving a Sunbeam Rapier to Dinard in 1966, and there in a local bar watching England win the World Cup, much to the disgust of several Germans who were in the same Bar at the same time!
The French roads were then full of Renault R8's including several Gordini models driving as fast as they could. There are lots of Renault R8's still in existence in Tenerife that attend Classic Car shows - see my YouTube channel (Tenerife Terry) video "Arona Classic Car Show" - Link Address - https://youtu.be/9DXod-eR9o4Last edited by Tdm; 4 August 2016, 21:56.

Yes, Dubonnet. I have been told that your queen's favorite drink was a cocktail of 2/3 Dubonnet, 1/3 gin.
Now, the Stag is in summer mode, hard-top stored.image.jpg

Yesterday, I drove 60 miles up M23 and M25 many miles at nearly 4000rpm, (ZF),surprised many moderns. No rise in temperature. Did my DIY work, opened boot to put tools in, locked and closed it holding keys......wrong set of keys!! Shockingly easy to open locked boot, not going into more detail. Drove home, great day, great car but must do something about boot lock.
