    Are you in the Stag?

We are planning another France/Italian road trip holiday for next summer. South of France then Lake Garda. Hopefully.

Flew to Lake Garda earlier this year - first time I personally had been to Italy and really enjoyed it.
Stayed at Desenzano and from there took coach & rail trips to Venice and Verona as well as several boat trips from Desenzano itself to some lovely places on the Lake. Lovely place, and if your interested I made a YouTube video of the holiday - Link below :-

If we go to Gada Mrs Stagstan wants to do a day trip to Venice. Who am I to refuse her?

Got the bodge stearing wheel off, and hit my thumb with the hammer, nice black thumb. Lol!!

Sorted bad earth on offside headlight. Crappy bullet connectors!
Got caught out a couple of weeks ago, both headlights failed! Near side bulb blowed and coincidentally the offside failed too (earth).
Only had side lights and main beam, it was not a full moon either....interesting 20 mile journey home shall we say.
Next job replacing the starter motor. On the same evening stopped for petrol and it took approximately 100 click nothings to restart.
Done everything I can over the decades, earths, batteries, ignition bypass circuits.
Just can't be arsed to mess around with the solenoid, if it is the solenoid, just want the thing to turn over when I want it to turn over, so I have bought a wasp hi-torque starter. Took the liberty of also buying the diode circuit so can also retain the 'cold start' 12V boost to the coil. Thats the project for next weekend!
            Mike.

The main railway line from Milan to Venice runs through Desenzano on Lake Garda and the final Venice Station (there are two) is right by the Canal. I had never been before, but the misses had made the trip to Venice once before with our daughter and wanted to show me it's delights. Enjoyed our day trip to Venice, and in the back streets just off St. Marks Square there are some very reasonably priced good food shops worth having a beer and a snack in. To be honest though I prefered Verona to Venice.

Lots of expensive machinery (exotic cars) around Lake Garda - particularly Sirmione where every other car we saw was a Ferrari, Porsche, Masserati, or Corvette, etc.

One tip is to book seats on the train, we were there a couple of years ago, walked up to the railway station for our day trip to Venice and we could not buy a ticket, train was full. So we went on the internet and booked & paid for our tickets online, when we got on the train it was full although there were seats for us.

We are off to Venice next week for a couple of days, before a cruise down to Greece and Dubrovnik, Venice is a fantastic city but can be very busy.

We are hoping to a similar trip as you next year so I would be very interested in your itinerary.

If we go to the south of France we will stop in Reims for a night then somewhere south of Lyon, probably Valence. Then down to the south for a week.

Gada is only absolute 6 1/2 hours from Port Grimaud so we will do that in one trip.

I would like to come home via lake Geneva, stay in France around Grenoble (possibly) then back to Reims then home.

Thats something like a plan anyway!

Moved the battery to the hood well last year and ran the cable inside the car. Never been very happy about not being able to access the battery quickly for maintenance or emergencies, especially when the hardtop was on. So this weekend have rerouted the cable from inside to underneath the car and fitted a Lucas heavy duty 250A isolator into the rear bulkhead, so now very easy to isolate the battery from the boot.

Fitted my Paddocks dual choke cables today, 10 mins? No 4.5 hrs! What were the Triumph designers thinking?

The description in the workshop manual makes it sound uber simple, allow plenty of time. I'll post a How To if anyone is interested, I took loads of pics.

Made new oil pipes for the BW35. The old ones are rusted and started leaking quite heavily. A bugger job. The space is too small or my hands too big. But managed to finished the job. The car is leak free again. Only thing to do is fixing the pipeswith the retaining clips. Alex

Took advantage of Rimmer Bros 15% off Triumph promo and just ordered several smaller bits off my "want" list. Stock piling parts in prep for the resto when these opportunities arise, some of which I just know I'm going need or want out of choice. Was almost tempted to go the whole hog for the Phoenix exhaust manifolds to maximise savings.

You'll save more than 15% by going to Robsport, especially for the manifolds. Even Paddocks are much cheaper.
