Celebrated my Stags birthday, by taking it to pick up a 911 alternator I was having repaired - the guy who runs the shop said when he was a lad in West London, all the local gangsters drove Stags. Made him smile when I told him it is my daily drive.

Anyway, as it is now officially 40 years old, just a few more months and tax free

Strange to think that forty years ago at this moment, my car was being created... I was just a second year apprentice

The engine decided to throw a wobbly 48 hours before the start After a lot of misery and frantic emails and phone calls to the organisers I ended up co-driving with another entrant in his TR5 whose original co-driver had bailed out at the last minute Roof down all the way - what a car! Great sound and handling, very quick, very hard ride!

It wasn't the way I had intended to do the run, but it was better than not doing it at all and I am very grateful to Tim for sorting it out and obviously to Chris who let a total stranger drive his very valuable car.

That's 2 runs now in 2 different cars, roll on 2018 and hopefully do it in the 2000 next time - and I expect to see you entered next time too Jason!
Lid love to do it. What was wrong with the 200?

Think it's exhaust valve or valves burnt out. Did a compression test on it and got figures of 160, 150, 160, 160, 60 & 50! I assume that means that it's only running on 4, no wonder it sounds rough! Going to get it to someone who really knows his stuff this evening, get the head off and see what we find.

There's always the 10CR next year if you fancy that instead.

Hopefully going to France and Italy next year for holidays so can't do the 10CR. That's assuming I fix the coolant and oil leaks!

Took the Cibié Oscar spotlights off the front, don't need them for urban Bristol!

Found a leak on the brake servo vacuum pipe union to the inlet manifold. Remade that using Wellseal, engine idles better now.

Fitted my new Electronic Speedometer. Looks good, and gives a steady needle throughout the speed range (only tested to 70mph Gov, honest). Easily calibrated for accuracy. Not cheap, especially with the recommended sender unit (cheaper ones not yet sourced), but it works much better than the kit supplied by a well-known purveyor of modified Stag bits.

Nowt to do with me, but in all fairness with all those it does look like quadrophenia There are a lot of unlit roads over here still I have found a good set of headlights adequate be they off road bulbs.

Changed all courtesy lights to LED's (2 had gone and needed replacing). Did puddle lights last year. Also used double sided carpet tape to stop driver and passenger footwell carpet fron sliding forward.

No, they now do them like that to match the Mk2 instruments, or 'plain' chrome.
