It could be the seat belt warning lamp or the brake failure warning indicator depending on what MK car you have. The handbook should tell you.

I think the brake failure warning is red? Could be wrong.

Isn't the pdwa light a small orange one on some of the later cars (to the right of the Steering wheel) I have seen one like this, it was Martin's car.

Here you are. Its a warning light that tells you if one half of your split braking system has failed.

Sorry, it's a Mark 2. Can't remember exactly where it is at the mo, but I think it's top right. The red at bottom right is brake warning I think. What's pdwa please?

You will hear it, because you only get a wuff, instead of a wuff-wuff

It should glow dimly when the ignition is turned on (the oil warning bulb is in series with it so they both glow dimly) then go out when you start, unless your pdwa switch is telling you that your brakes aren't working - 'course there may other ways of noticing that....

PO most prob took the bulb out as they couldn't centre the pdwa

Thanks for all help. I have a bit of an oddity then. Bottom RHS of dash I have a red light where the orange should be and above and in between tacho and clock I have an orange. That makes sense now as to why the new dash kit I received doesn't have a cut out in it for my light in between the tacho and clock!

Thanks all - more on this story later I imagine.......

                            Hi all,

I replied a while ago as to where my orange light is, but it didn't post - I've noticed my reply posts don't always post (is that too many uses of the word post in one sentence?). I hit the reply to thread button, fill out my text and hit send, but it frequently doesn't show, so my apologies for anyone thinking I'm an ignorant s*d! I'm trying the 'reply with quote' approach this time.

The orange light is on the upper edge in between tacho and clock. I have since found some wiring but I haven't traced the source. It seems it must be a PO addition, especially as the new dash I just received doesn't have a hole for it, so for now it's being ignored! I have just got all steering column bushes & bearings, so as I have refurbed all parts now, that will be re-assembled this weekend, as will hopefully the entire dash assuming my new speedo lens arrives. All this workj just because I didn't like where part of the loom went, and next thing I know, the entire front inside of the car has magically been taken a[part, including the steering column! New seat foams and belt buckles next. By the way, I whole heartedly recommend FDTS seatbelts - fabulously helpful.

                            Regards

I had a similar non standard orange light- it was the telltale for the towbar indicators.
