soft top frame

Hi,this is my first posting on the forum
My soft top frame is very difficult to put up or down,taking two of us to do either task
The rear loop of the frame on the drivers side is touching the storage hinge after adjusting all the way in and the passenger side has a gap of almost one inch.
Is there any information on how to adjust the soft top frame as i've already spent a lot of time on it getting nowhere

Welcome to the forum & to stag foible-dom.

Vmad seems to be the #1 hood person here.

Number one thing to remember with hoods is don't get mad with them

Number two thing is follow the correct procedure especially with regards to the rear frame being clipped to the main rail at the correct time....This is essential and requires the hooks to be present & working. further info is on the sun visor sticker & owners handbook. (both still available)

The front corners need to be free to rotate (hinged x 2, 1 each front corner) if they are not, any adjustments are futile.

Originally this was a riveted hinged joint....many have become siezed over the years.

They do not appear to need to be hinged, but they were and they are.

The hinged axis is approximately vertical to to car, when in the up position / erected. (caution, banter may arise )

If the front corner hinge breaks, it is repairable though, requires a weld or two & an M10 / 1/4 bolt & some short 1/8th pop rivets.

(pop rivets are for the seal holder to frame, under the seal)

The rom (repair operation manual) has some good info on the hood adjustment, but Chris (Vmad) has more.

Alternatively, get an slk with a marvelous electric roof mechanism
