    Electronic Ignition - Identify

I've read a few posts about electronic ignition, can anyone identify this one fitted to my Stag please? I realise there's only the shape of the unit to go on but someone might know.

I have a bill for a list of work done dated 2012, but all it says is 'fit transistor ignition' ..........

There's only the unit visible here with two wires, red and black, that go to the coil, these are very short and the black wire has been extended to reach the coil. I can't see any markings or name. As I mentioned in another post, I am having the occasional misfire/cough/cut out with restart after a couple of minutes and if this is a cheapie Chinese copy then it could be the reason for my problems.

It looks like an Accuspark or similar, and it sounds like it is wired incorrectly if the red wire goes to the coil. The red wire must go to a proper 12v supply, NOT the coil+. You can get 12V at the inertia switch - you will have to use an extender wire. Black wire gors to coil- (NEG).

if it doesn't have a nice hologram sticker on it I would go for cheap Chinese copy etc.

Re wiring it is entirely feasible that if a 12v coil is fitted then 12v feed and red wire could both go the same side of the coil. Black wire and Tacho to the other side

Looking at OP other post the unballasted feed from the solenoid is disconnected so my guess is that a 12v coil is probably fitted

Think it may be an Accuspark, just seen a picture in an advert for one on a well known internet auction site and it matches perfectly.

Now, how do I find out the type of my distributor - two points or one?

Provided they have also permanently bypassed the ballast as well then the coil+ would work OK. Best to test to be sure.

serial number on outside of dizzy body but seeing as the original baseplate looks to be absent pretty pointless (geddit) exercise really

Single points were for early cars someone more knowledgeable will fill in the gaps

Seems to work ok, but I like knowing what I've got if you see what I mean. And if it's a Chinese copy (although I doubt it - it was installed by D&R in Arley, Coventry and they have a good reputation) it could be part of my problem.

                  Thanks for the help everyone.

Any help with two points or one and where I'll find my distributor type?

Seems contradictory or did I misunderstand?

Sorry, as in works ok in answer to 'Provided they have also permanently bypassed the ballast as well then the coil+ would work OK' but I do have an intermittent problem that may or not be associated with the ignition, just trying to get my head round the Stags electrical systems - my previous car was a Herald 13/60 and that was simple, still on points and dynamo and only had one fuse - on the main beam for the headlights!!
