Hi, i bought a seat refurbishment kit from James Paddock and just started fitting however the kit is the one piece kit, has anyone fitted these and is so do you have any photos or tips that you could share?
Hi Terry
Being one piece means there is not much to go wrong. You just need to cut a horizontal slot across the ridge to allow the pull-through tapes to pass through. The bottom edges of foam will also need trimming to suit LH or RH seat variations.
Thanks guys. The car is a Mk1 therefore are there any differences to Mk2 as the centre back section is seperate?
The Mk1 and Mk2 seats are completely different in this respect. The 1-piece foams are for the Mk2 seats. I bought some 8 years ago for my Mk2 Stag and the upholsterer couldn't make them fit; the shape is all wrong. Sent the unused one back for credit and bought the Aldridge Mk2 foam kits which fitted easily. I did the front seats on my old Mk1 myself back in 2003 and found they were easy to do using foam from a local supplier and an electric knife to shape it.
Looking at the Paddocks website they sell Seat Refurbishment Kits for Series 1: JPS871LK and JPS871RK (both out of stock) and for Series 2: JPS870LK and JPS870LK. Which ones have you bought?
The back part of the seat on mk2 are a one piece, but the mk 1 comes in pieces, are you sure you have bought the right foams
Dave
Dave, you may be right as i have looked on their web site and the one i have looks like the MK2 foams. I need to check to see if i ordered the wrong ones or they send the wrong ones? Most probably my fault. Doh

Guys - this is a job I have been putting off all year. Now with a rally in France looming, I think I've got to bite this bullet. I've torn 3 pairs of perfectly good trousers getting in and out of the car! So if anyone has any pictures for an idiots' guide of each stage it would be appreciated. My mean green machine is a MkII and Pete Edwards is recommending I use the one piece kit.

are you going to repair the base of the seat or the back rest, the foam for the base is a one piece item, there not quite the right shape, sides are a bit low,but fit okay, chances are the seat rubber diaphragm will need replacing as well, the foams for the back part of the seat (side bolsters),S E Trimmers sell them they fit,or you can buy the one piece foam, but there's a bit more work to get them to fit nicely.
look in the Tech section, there's a write up on how to fit them
one tip,on the base when you take the cover and foam off, there's two metal plates that stick up for the seat hinge, cover them with a bit of material from the old cover,it helps stop the metal plate wearing through the new cover
I bought the Mk 1 kit from Aldridge after tearing a few pairs of jeans. Took one look at it and rung Spike at Classic Auto Trims on 07805097893 (he is just outside Pershore, Worcestershire). Its the best move I've made. I can now see over the hedges when we drive out. Yes ok, a bit of an exaggeration but having the job done properly probably saved me hundreds, - I know I would have ruined the set.
Thanks Dave. Still nervous and tempted to follow BasilBrush14's suggestion! I'll read the technical session and think hard. I have spent too much on the Stag recently.
Thanks chaps

Nigel - in 2011, I had the repair kits from JP (JPS871LK/RK), and had the work done by K Baggs (Cortry Close, Poole). They also did some minor repairs on the covers. Now got the most comfortable seats I have had in 30 years of Stag ownership. PM me if you want to see them.
Just off to start the New Forest Run.
And, you never spend too much on the Stag - you will benefit from every penny for many years.
Hi David
I hope you a great run out today. I would have loved to have have joined you all today on the New Forest Run. My green machine is still with Peter Edwards. I've been offered another differential which it is claimed does not whine away. So perhaps I'll get to hear that V8 rumble again soon!
PM message on way.
