Ethanol in petrol

Just reading an article in another owner's club magazine about the problems of ethanol in petrol, which apparently is becoming more common, even in 95 octane. Apparently it is very corrosive and harmful to brass, copper and zinc and does not mix well with 100% hydrocarbon fuel. Anyone know anything about it?
