Are the NGK plugs better than the Champion N12Y plugs? If yes, is this because they are 'hotter' or any other reason?

Over the years I have seen "scare stories" about just about every brand of plugs. I have never perceived any change in performance from one brand to the next (even on engine dyno runs).
So these days I don't worry which brand I use, so long as the spec is the same (heat range equivalents).Header tanks - you can't beat a bit of bling.

Ok thanks - I saw a post on another thread to the effect that Champion plugs are good as long as they're not fitted in an engine and thought there might be a serious flaw in them.

I seem to recall myriad articles regarding counterfeit spark plugs finding their way onto the market. Here's one example site -from NGK; http://www.ngk-sparkplugs.jp/english/techinfo/fake/
This may be where, and how, hearsay became fact in this instance.

I've got champion eon plugs in, but again if you can tell the difference...
Only thing to watch which does make a difference is the plug gap. Quite often the 'pre-gapped' size is too big for the Stag, so I always regap them.Mike.

Hi
I have always used the NGK BPR5EY VG reason good quality and for 8 plugs a good price.. My opinion i do not think you can tell a difference ( as above ) you have to remember the stag is not a rocket machine its a cruiser..
If you was to split Champion / NGK i would say the NGK would go two services as to Champion to one service ( just my opinion from past )
i mean nothing goes near my stag unless i am more than happy with what ever is getting bolted / screwed on to it..
But all in all a plug dose one job

When I first got my current stag it had a bit of a misfire after changing all the usual related stuff I decided to change the nearly new NGK plugs to Unipart equivalent that local garage had they were basically Champion plugs boxed and marked Unipart anyway once installed my misfire went, when it was time for new plugs I went back to the same garage and bought another 8 Unipart plugs unbeknown to me Bosch had bought out Unipart(only the plug side?) so I was now using Bosch plugs and back came the misfire. Now using Champion N12 with no problems.
Each car is different I guess so don't take it as gospel on your car.
