A sensible question for the forum but likely to be "influenced" by vested interests, which is a great shame as it negates the purpose of a club forum, where members should ask and be given impartial advice. Look at post http://socforum.com/forum/showthread...ight=Pertronix for example.

I may be tempting fate, but I fitted a Newtronic system from Paddocks over 21 years ago, and apart from once having to change a cracked disk in the distributor (it comes with spares), it is still working fine.

I'm still on my original Luminition , been OK for 20+ years. Only advise I can give is steer clear of the cheapo ones, you get what you pay for.

What's the forum's opinion of the various electronic ignitions?
One expert, really is, says that he rates the electronic module in the distributer very highly, another experienced Stag overhauler states that these are unreliable and he will only fit Lumination systems.
What to go for?

The Lumenitions do seem to be generally very reliable but occasinally with one main cause of failure: the 3-pin connector linking from dissy to the electronics module. Other connections can be problemmatical, such as the earthing of the module. But all these are easily overcome.

Opinions vary about the modules that fit into the distributor but that has already been fully discussed recently.

I had a luminition fitted when i first got the car however coukd not get rid of a misfire. Replaced with an Accuspark unit and it has been fine since

I'll say as I find ,have used powerspark and accuspark ,and lumination never had a problem with any of them

better check my RAC membership now I've said that ,banjacked myself ?

After points, I fitted lumintion, then removed as the comments here worried me.
Replaced with official aldon ignitor system neater & still working.
Lumintion kept in boot!

whatever you fit keep a spare in the glovebox that you could fit in event that one fails. Is your piranha chopper still in one bit?

It's an electronic fuel pump.

OK, I have decided to disable my Pirahna/Newtronic system and go for the electronic distributor system.
Question is, to the old Newtronic box are a blue, yellow, and white wire which goes to the fuel cut off switch, and into the old distributor is a red wire, where to these all originate from?
Can I just cut them off?
