    Oil Pump Dilemma

    Hi Guys,
    Decided to replace my oil pump while I have the engine stripped down. No reason really other than it appears to be original and would have completed about 120000km. I don't know what the oil pressure was before I stripped the engines, but didn't have any problems in that regard.

    The new (and I believe only pump available) is a County pump made in India and yes I'm aware I need to swap out the pressure release spring. In the pics below the left pump is the old pump and it looks ok so I'm tempted just to replace the seals and bolt it back on. The right pump is the new County and it looks fine but feels a little less solid.

    What do you think? What actually fails on them anyway?

    Actually on closer inspection there is a bit of wear to the contact parts.

        Yep got it thanks. I guess it's more of a question of the merits of a slightly worn but in spec original oil pump versus an unkown quality new County pump. Anyway I'll measure them both up but probably swap over to the County but with the original relief valve spring.

        That is unless anyone has had issues with the County.

          what Dave said ^^^ . My old pump looked and felt like the surface of a 78rpm record!

          That was pretty much at the end of its life and failed the feeler gauge test.
