Electric seats

Just inherited a Stag in pretty good condition except for the seats which seem to have disintegrated.
I know it's possible to get them refoamed, but I was going to take the opportunity to put in a set of leather seats.

Reading the forums I can see that Tomcat and XJS appear to be popular options, are there any other good alternatives that can be made to fit without major rework. I'm happy enough to do a bit of welding of angle iron to make runners fit but would prefer not to adapt original seat mounts on car. I have seen some reasonable BMW seats on ebay which have the right seat height relative to runners.

Also does anyone have any experience with electric/heated seats. I presume as controls are within the seat the wiring isnt too much of a problem?

I have fitted 2004 Astra leather convertible seats with heaters. I did move the front seat frame pivot points forward on the rail where they attach to lower the seat by about 25mm. I also offset the seat on rails by 25mm inboard using SHS section to give plenty of clearance on the B post. They are just at an acceptable height now for me (184cm). If you are taller then it may not work for you. The original seats maybe about 10-15mm lower. The heater wiring is fairly easy to do. Just need to fit relays. Mine are on maximum heat which is fine. I did not use a variable resistor in the control circuit which could be used to reduce the heat. Craig

I've got a pair of Jaguar XJS seats seats in grey leather that I'm not going to fit now

They are a direct as far as I know.

Yes I will probably sell them if someone wants them
one seat has a small tear but I have a rear seat squab with the leather needed for the repair
