    Stag Hood header rail part..HELP

I am a newbie here from the "Colonies"

I'm a little less than chest deep in a Mark II restoration and looking ahead at issues I need to solve. I have 2 hood frames, both have header rails in questionable condition. I have noted that Rimmers offers a fiberglass replacement part that is"nor currently available" and a friend told me when he asked Rimmers a year or so ago about it he was told the part is no longer available. So my question is, given it is likely that somebody was making a fiberglass header rail at some time, has anybody had any experience with it or is it available anywhere else.

If not what is the solution for the rust and rot? Total fabrication of a new piece?

Dave Fiberglass ones where made I can recall seeing one on flea bay a few years ago. I beleive that it was a central metal rod with end fixings and the main body was shaped with Fiberglass.

Rimmers are selling the fibreglass ones: http://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/Item--i-813768FG. They could be worth a look. They are also doing rear rails.

But I am looking into having some steel repair panels made up for repairing the front/ends as the shape is really tricky.

Thanks for responses to date, I decided to give Rimmers a shout. They say, yes in fact the have the two, front and back rails cited above, on the way. They expect a late June or July arrival. I am hopeful these are good quality as the fibreglass would solve several problems. I plan to give the header a try and then on to fabrication/repai if that doesn't work.
