    A new Owner looking for some guidance

    Hi All

    I have just last week managed to secure a 1972 Automatic Stag with the original 3L engine. After being in storage for some 20 years the previous owner had a number of items overhauled since 2011 to get the car back on the road and MOT'd. One obvious issue the car has is that the radiator is leaking slightly and it looks to be the orignal one, so I am looking to upgrade to a better performing one as well as replacing the expansion tank as this looks to be a decent upgrade that addresses any issues with potential over-heating concerns. Having been looking around does anyone have any recommendations for the rad replacement that I should consider?

    Appreciate any pointers as I start my journey of Stag ownership and I am in the honeymoon period of spending cash on the car to hopefully get it right first time around.

    Welcome to the club. Being as you are in Surrey you are in a very knowledgeable Stag area including Kryten (Russ) who is in the Old Coulsdon area ( cant give you the exact address data protection) he will give you all the help and information you need and it will be correct as well, send him a PM he is a really nice chap weird but nice.       Welcome along, I would recommend that you get your existing rad re-cored with a modern matrix and get any mods and adaptors for header tanks etc done at the same time. Try Guildford Radiators, they should be close to you.

        Guildford Rads would be a fair distance from him Bob - There is a good rad specialist in Croydon that just recored a pals Stag rad for the same price as a new one - and of course it fitted back in properly

          Appreciate the suggestion. I had not thought about a refurbishment . I will have to give the guys a call to see what they can do.

            As Bob said add the connection for the header tank,and a drain tap,saves you getting a wet sleeve .��

              Welcome to Stag ownership Terry.
              When I bought my Stag it had also been standing for 20yrs.
              I strongly recommend you replace all flexible fuel hoses as the originals will certainly be brittle.
              Take out the boot boards and look at the blanked off piece on top of the fuel tank. This will give you an idea how these pipes can deteriorate.
