A bit of advise - rear wheel arch repair

    Hi All

Just wondered if you could give me some advise on how long it would /should take (and hence how much to cost) for a competent body repair guy to cut out and replace my lower front panel on the RH rear wing p/n 907075RPF(RH) image attached of the part from Rimmers.

Let me know oh wise ones

    thanks

How long is a piece of string? If you need to replace that part alone well and good, probably within one day without fairing and paint, but it is highly likely that you will have guard (inner & outer) plus sill issues to repair as well. Craig

On the 2000 saloon, as well as the Stag, this part hides a very highly stressed bit of the vehicle unitary body. The junction between the sill assembly and the rear tub is critical, and if the outer panel is corroded there is probably much to be rectified inside it. It's impossible to tell how much a repair would cost until the outer panel has been removed.

Agree with earlier comments, the panel is purely cosmetic but shields a complex structure inside.
This area seems to attract crud and so corrodes "out of sight"
You are much better knowing about any problems in this area and getting them sorted, a competent panel man is essential.
However, you might be lucky and the repairs are confined to the outer panel only. I am sorry that I can't help with prices as both sides of mine were included in a full body restoration.
        Good luck
        John

This might give you some idea of what may be lurking:

4 days per side with paint, call it 2 weeks for both if they don't muck about & are familiar with stags.

            £1500 per side. minimum.

Anything less will probably be a corner cutting bodge.

This is because the panel joins with the sill, the outer & sometimes the inner sill usually needs fixing too & the sill extends behind the front wing lower. (See djt photos)

The job normally involves painting the whole side of the car if its done thoroughly.

Sorry if that's not what you wished to hear.

Thanks for the info. Having looked at this again, I don't think it is as nearly as bad as the above. I have poked around inside with my special spy camera tool thingy and cant see to many other areas to worry about. I'll take it to a body specialist and see what they say.

              cheers again
