    Garage timings

I am having a new steering rack and a new starter motor being fitted, what would be a reasonable remove and replace time for each be?

The Triumph Repair Times are 1.80 hours for remove and replace rack and 1.10 hours for remove and replace starter (RHD non-AC)

I would imagine a non-Stag specialist mechanic would take a bit longer due to lack of familiarity.

Also depends upon whether original manifolds or stainless tube variety.
I had to cut my stainless off because of conflicting angles on the header to down tube, and the rear fitment of the remaining exhaust system, had to weld it all back together after...ha 1.8 hours.

I doubt even if the garage adheres to that op time for the rack that they will throw in front wheel alignment - they should, but they may not

Also make sure they are aware of getting the steering column reconnected in the correct position so the indicator cancelling works properly. I've seen in the past it just refitted to the rack and the steering wheel re positioned on its splines afterwards. If you look in the ROM there is also a method for centering a new rack before it's fitted and connected.

Stag back today with a clean new shiny MOT, new hi-torque starter motor, new battery and new steering rack. Starts so quickly now, very different. The new steering rack is much tighter or stiffer than the old one. I did used to think that previously the steering was very light. Anyone else had the same results?
4 hours of labour charged so that was fair with the amount of worked done.
                  Happy days.
