    Speedos!

My speedo wavers about a lot
    (Not my Budgie)

Fitted exchange speedo, new inner cable, new gearbox drive, only bit left is the right angle drive. Can this wear out?

Or are there 2 lengths of drive cable, mine is longer than old one ,maybe its a few mm too long and tightening up when fitted.

Any ideas? They say all Stag speedos do it......

    Mine did this
I replaced the angle drive , made no difference
I took the car to EJ Wards
They put it on the ramp and mick re routed the speedo cable
Apparently if they are fed in to the angle drive at the wrong angle jumping can occur at the clock end
    Hope this helps

Thanks for info. I have tried this, seems logical, will try again although the cable run is straight as I can make it .

I have now also replaced the angle drive also , can do no more. Speedo is fairly steady now.

Thanks - was it an easy job to replace it - something you did at home ?

on the manual overdrive box I had to drop the gearbox crossmember out to get access.

6 nuts, 7 including me 4 on the underside of the floor and two on the back of the gearbox iirc

and with a jack under the gearbox and the crossmember resting on the exhaust I had access. messy job though

I did it in the garage attached to my house!

Fiddly job but not difficult, in fact not difficult enough to write about in the "worst jobs on Stag" thread.
