    Interesting H reg car

Friend of mine sent me this image today of an H reg Stag, very nice indeed and was wondering if it belonged to anyone on here. Don't see many early ones.

Shame about the cheat line and the alloys, but otherwise a good-looking car. Body-colour sills too!

From January 1972. The fact that LD1 has these fitted in some photos is confusing to some restorers.
My old Mk1 didn't have them (correctly) but I've seen pictures of it having been repaired again and it now has them.

The car pictured looks like it has tinted glass, but that may be a trick of the light.

I know photos can lie etc, but the colour looks more like Inca or Mimosa, rather than the correct period yellow (Saffron?) Or is it my eyes?

Indeed, not all is at it seems, I've guessed that the first letter of the VRN is a "D"' which is even more puzzling as the MOT site lists it as a 1971 car:

                      Registration number: DGF977H

                      Vehicle makeTRIUMPH

Date first used 1 July 1971

Quite easy to buy an older registration number and put it on a newer vehicle. I have 1998 plate on my 2006 Motorbike.
