    Fuel sender float

Hi. I have just discovered that the fuel sender float has a small split in it and consequently it is full of fuel. The rest of the unit is in very good condition and so I would like to either repair the old float or buy a replacement. However I have not been able to find a supplier of floats only. Can anybody suggest what I can use to make a repair or suggest a supplier, please?
Finally got my Stag on the road two years after purchase after cutting out and replacing the professionally hidden rust and am ironing out the teething problems.

Use the hot tip of a Soldering Iron to reseal it

Allow the fuel to evaporate then use a solder iron to seal the hole. Do not be tempted to use a hot glue gun as it will fall off after a while.

This is what I did, and then turned the float around so the other end was in the metal clip as my hole was where the clip was touching the float. Should be good for another 40 years now!

I have used a small sample bottle of similar size with the screw lid epoxy glued on. Still working after 6 months. Craig

Thanks for replies. I have tried the hot screwdriver method and it is working at moment but suspect there may still be a small hole in it so am monitoring it. I like the small sample bottle idea,Craig, and will keep my eyes open for a suitable one.

Hi. Yes I saw the ones from Holden but with postage it works out at £13.20. Call me right but I hate paying out that sort of money for something that costs a few pence to make. I didn't manage to seal it with the hot screwdriver- it was quite a long split- but I found a small shampoo bottle from a hotel and have put that in the tank today so fingers crossed.

                    .
Cheaper than running out fuel though and if the shampoo bottle is dissolved by the fuel then you'll have another problem

Yes choice of sample bottle is important. Mine is not a shampoo bottle! It was designed for oils and other chemicals.
