    Best recon diff?

The recon diff I fitted last week is lovely and quiet and works well. But it's a 4.1 so my car now does 3500rpm at 80mph (French road, so a perfectly legal speed).

I now need to bite the bullet and go buy a recon diff. Who does the best ones?

Alternatively, could I get someone to rebuild the old one which was quiet but had rumbling bearings?

Why fit a ZF and negate most of the high gearing by fitting a 4:1 diff

I didn't know it was a 4.1 diff until after I'd fitted it. It was sold to me as a Stag diff, bought but not fitted because the Stag it was bought for snapped a chain shortly after. It must actually be a 2000 Estate diff because it has the correct backplate to fit a Stag.
