    Door hinge pin/bolt dia

    Hi all,

I'm going to get some new door hinge pins made, but would like to get them made before I remove the doors.

Does anyone know the nominal dia size please?

    Regards

    Mark

I can tell you that I replaced one of my door hinge pins which I thought would be quite easy. I work as a machinist and have a lot of years in the trade also I have access to pillar drills milling machines etc. The pins are hardened you will need a special drill bit to remove them. I used up four or five bits from our tool room supply and finally did remove it, I tried to punch the pin out that was a non starter so i drilled out the pin in stages to relieve the pressure and finally was able to punch it out but it was not the easy job that I thought it was. As it would be the case it turned out not to be the pin but the door was out of alignment, not a job I would do again unless its necessary.
