    Pump direction

I know the nut on the pump impeller is a left hand thread, but when removing a pump from block, does it come out anti or clockwise to remove. Doing one tonight but it's been a while
If a pump has gone, will it allow water to run down the V even with engine off?

It's a friends car so haven't seen it yet, so need to check other areas first to save any unnecessary work

    Cheers

        Andrew,

My experience is that it will leak with the engine stationary if the underside of the impeller has corroded and no longer sealing. If this corrosion is slight, then using the engine will clean up the face and stop the leak. If severe, then the impellor will need machining. I'd recommend getting a seal kit from Peter and allow for the impellor to be machined to accept his ceramic seal, then your friend won't have to worry about rust forming there again.

Clockwise to remove, which may make the pump lift, or could undo the l.h. bolt.
Can sometimes leave the cage in the block.

Best to use a new bolt imho.
