Changing Front Seat Belts

For some reason the seat belts in my car are odd, the passenger side has a sort of tongue with the buckle at the end that slides on the belt and the other has just the buckle, also the centre binnacle plastic trim is broken, so, after having no luck getting secondhand ones from anywhere I think I'm going to have to go for new Securon 500/15 ones as seen on ebay, Paddock and Rimmers web sites.
My car is a Mark One and a Half and doesn't have the seat belt warning lamps/wiring.

I know a lot of people have gone down this route and have a couple of questions....

1 When the centre binnacle fastener thingy has been replaced with two stalk type fasteners, what have people done with the hole in the carpet? To my mind, there will be a fair sized hole between the two stalks, simple to fit a bit of carpet in or what have others done?

2 My belts fasten to the B post at shoulder lever by just sort of sitting on a hook, will the new ones do the same or do I get (or need) new fasteners/bolts for this.

3 Are the Securon belts ok? Are they handed at all, none of the adverts mention left or right hand (is this a daft question - I can't think whether they should need to be handed or they might be universal simply because they are fitted to opposite sides of the car so reverse themselves if you see what I mean) I also see that prices vary from £28.94 incl delivery on ebay up to £43 at Rimmers and £45 at James Paddock.


Any other suggestions or advice on this subject would be appreciated as well

Does the seat belt binnacle still work, apart from the trim broke,if it does why not get your belts re webbed,the trim on my seat belt binnacle is also broke,i dont think seat belts are handed left or right

Get the new ones from Robsport. They have a binnacle that looks just like the original. The hook just stops you having to fish around between the seats for the belts.

the hook sea dog is on about,is on early cars they didnt have a bolt to hold the top part of the seat belt to the car,just a hook,im going to change mine for a bolt

I replaced by seatbelts last year. I used http://www.fdts-seatbelts.co.uk/ and their service was fantastic.
Took the opportunity to change the colour of the belt to match the car ( Not everyone's taste but I like it).
I now have bright yellow belts against the light brown interior looks really nice.

Can anyone please tell me how much these belts from FTDS cost please, I've seen quite a lot about them in other posts, but no prices mentioned. Just a guide price will do to give me some idea that's all.

Just had my belts re-webbed by FDTS. Can't fault their help or service. In the end I had various fittings replaced and the bill was around 130, delivered.

I bought a used centre binnacle from Winns a couple of years ago.

As I said, though, mine are odd, one has a tail or tongue with buckle that slides on the main belt and the other the buckle slides on the belt itself so I'd have to get a matching second hand one from somewhere first to send to FDTS and I still need another centre binnacle. I've phoned a couple of places today with no joy and doastags, who were recommended don't reply.

I bought a couple of Ebay belts and had them redone in beige to match the interior by FDTS seatbelts. Very happy.

FTDS are local to me, and had them replace the webbing when mine failed an mot for being too frayed. They have a box full of all sorts of fittings, binnacles, tongues etc.
Send photos to them and see if they can do a matching pair for you.
