I have just agreed with my good lady (yes, I do mean my wife!!) that we must do some work on the Stag this winter. Does anybody know if there is a repair section avalable for the boot lid? Mine is in fine condition apart from the areaon the undersidebehind the chrome stripwhere the number plate lights are fitted - but in need of replacement right the way across. Ideally I'd like to get hold of a repairsection. Does such a thing exist or will I need to get something made up?

There is a repair section but, to be honest you are probably better of getting hold of good second hand boot lid, there are always a couple for sale on ebay if not the club mag should have something. I had this problem a few years ago and buying a good second hand one was less than half the cost, just make sure you get the right boot lid for your car i.e. MK1 or MK2.

Thanks guys - two replies with 15 mins -What a Forum !!
Those Paddocks parts look to be exactly what I was looking for DJT, so I'll have to weigh the cost of them against whatever second hand lids I can find as per Ian B's suggestion. That said, is my problem where they tend to fail, or is mine unusual? The rest of the lid looks rust free (to my eyes at least)

I believe it is a common place for rot on a stag.

Had the panels fitted to my boot lid a few years back, the guy who fitted them said it was not an easy job to get it right, but looks fine now. The area rusts due to condensation in the boot and it runs from the underside of the bootlid down into the cavity at the rear, the same problem that rusts the petrol tank underside. I always leave the boot lid slightly open when in the garage to vent the boot and stop this happening. Take the bulb out of the bootlight first or disconnect the battery though.
