Exhaust Tail Pipe Rubber Hanger

I've just bought a tail pipe hanger rubber from Rimmers. The ones that are currently fitted to the car have two U-shaped slots that the body work hook and the exhaust hook pass through. The new one from Rimmers has the U-shaped slots either side but there is a layer of rubber in the middle which means the hooks can't go all the way through the rubber. Is this how they are supposed to be?

You need to put a screwdriver through and open them up as the slot goes right through

Thanks Andrew. I did wonder about that but thought I would ask first in case they had sent me the wrong one. Just given it a try and the screwdriver went through easily enough.
