I bet you would not have been happy to find your P&J gone and not a person to tell you why or where? And my good friend, a GP, was in it with me at the time and was as nonplussed as I was. I take it you would normally accept the judgement of a doctor? In fact he was the one who pointed out the parking place in the first place.

    Yeah, I'll be there this year again. But I won't park there, lol.

      My 3.9 put out about 225bhp before it was taken off the road for a refurb. This was on a part tuned map and wasn't taken any further because the headers were considered to be blocking performance. It is now fitted with Monarch headers which are larger diameter and appear to have a better branch layout. The exhaust is also slightly larger diameter and is a straight through system.

      The cam is an uprated version and the heads have been ported to match the manifold profiles.

        Anther thought - it really would not be difficult to reign in the output of that Rover, maybe a simple cam change to stock would get you most of the way back to the Stag 3.0 power output. A dyno run to prove it and voila! You would have a very torquey, driveable car, it would just suffer (relatively) at the top end.

          unfortunately its not that simple to change the cam on the RV8 engine.

          rocker shafts off push rods out lifters out front pulley off water pump off timing case off..... Radiator out because theres not enough room to remove the cam. That's before you start with re timing the valve train to put the "stock" cam back in...
          If you put a new stock cam in you have to change the lifters too.. the cam will be destroyed if you don't.
          It might sound it but believe me it aint so simple.

          Sounds like a remap of the ECU is the easiest route and hope you can detune it enough.

            Alternately, less work then to just change the cam timing, which will bring the peak torque rpm down. Advancing the cam brings the torque in earlier, at the expense of top end power.

                well, it looks like i can get the car insured after all, i sent in the engine curve data i had which shows just over 150 (at the flywheel) and they accepted it as it is under 200 bhp....happy days! Just need to get it over here now.

                    Anyone who read that and knows about the battle the UK gummint had with Europe for SVA testing and limited production approvals, knows we are very lucky indeed in this country.
