    Silverstone Newbie!!!

    Hello all,

We've got our Silverstone tickets though which is great - we also have the Stag stand thing so we can take the car inside.

If we get there before 10:00 what is the deal re: searching out the stand and parking with all the oner stags?

Also - we haver met none of you so are quite nervous about gate crashing the regulars so you'll have to be gentle on us!

Any tips - then please pass them on!

Are they strict bout the 10:00 A.M thing too?

    Cheers!

    Hi Stimpy,

Personally I have always arrived very early to avoid the long queues that can build up around 9.00am onwards.

To get onto the club stand, you need an infield pass, which you should have got if you quoted the Club password when you ordered the tickets. If you have that, marshalls will direct you to the vague area, then you will need a Mk1 eyeball to find the Club. I think there is a map on the website, too.

Your infield pass (which needs to be stuck inside the windscreen) will be colour coded, match the colour to the zones on the layout map for the general area.

As for the 10.00am cut off, I have, for the past 10 years at least, seen cars arriving past that, mainly because they have been stuck in queues to get in.

If you get challenged, just tell 'em you broke down en route - in a Stag , who would dispute that? LOL

Thanks for the info - very handy.

Is there a mix of people that arrive at the Stag stand or does it tend to be people who have organised several events together - i.e. would we be a new face or is there no telling who might arrive on the day?

Today was the clay - polish - wax portion of the whole damn clean & sparkly thing. Humans. Weird creatures. Spending literally hours and hours making something shine then deliberately putting it into an environment that attracts the most dirt, dust, 'sand rain', and all sorts of muck. It must come under masochism somewhere.

All sorts arrive onto the Club stand, they even let me park there. The team of stalwarts that put up the tent etc. are friendly and welcoming, and if you ask nicely, will present you with a mug of tea and a bacon roll first thing! My gratitude to them for past years, and hopeful expectations for this.

Really helpful, friendly folk, so don't be afraid to make yourself known and join in the chat.

Claying a Stag? There's dedication, lol.

WE managed to get a room at a B&B 11 miles from silverstone Friday night.

I'm hoping - especially with being a short distance away - that we'll be ready and up for getting there before 10:00

              Thanks for the thumbnails.

              Re: claying the Stag.

You know that suggestion - by the government - that you should try to get yourself slightly out of breath for about 20 mins each day? Well I've just ticked off the rest of the year on that one.

It's my first claying and feels really 'wrong' and counter intuitive - like using a brick to shine up the windscreen (with lube etc).

I'm on the weather app every 40 mins to check whether it'll all be a waste of time!

Agree with claying, feels wrong but the results are really good! Just make sure you keep it well lubed

edit due to iPad replacing claying with flaying!!!

Was there today, massive queue from 9.00am onwards - took me an hour to get in. Would recommend you get to the gates as they open at or just after 7.30am, as Sat and Sun are usually far FAR busier than Fridays. Queues will definitely build from 8 to 8.30ish onwards. Why Silverstone cannot cope with events like this is beyond me. They have had enough practice for goodness sake!

Never seen so many people there on a Friday before.

Stag club pitch - entrance 5, turn left once you are in to the circuit proper, grey zone 13. All signposted.

Embarrassingly and Unfortunately I am not so quick on spotting words that have been 'auto-corrected' ridiculously to what the Mac thinks should be my testicles rendered fluffy bunny

Well.... being a 'Stag Stand Virgin' it was great to park amongst a pride of Stags. We ended up getting there late (10.20-ish) and drove straight in taking a 'scenic route' so t speak and noticing the Stags (very good pitch this year).

People were friendly which is always a good thing.

Someone parked an identical looking blue stag next to mine. Except it had wire wheels. Knowing how caring and sharing the club is I decided to search out a tool stand so that I could swap my set of wheel over which in no doubt would have delighted the owner but alas I did not find the right gear so I had to leave it.

When we got back to the stand after much wandering / eating / rides etc the stand had shrunk somewhat - which was fine as I moved my car to the very front of the row!

                        Plenty of pictures.

Somehow I managed to get on that massive 'carousel' outside the track with the seven-year-old (£4 a go, I think). Blimey - I thought I was going to hit a hot air balloon.

Weather was *just about* ok (managed to get sunburn) so me and my clan had a fantastic day - I hope everyone else did too.
