How do I find out the manufacture date of my Stag

How do I find out the manufacture date of my 1977 Stag . On the V5 it tells the date first registered but not the manufacture date mine is June 1977 . Now my Rover P4 has a first registered date of March 1962 but I have a manufacture date of Oct 18th 1961 Although the registration date is 1962 I tell everyone it is a 1961 . As I am getting near free road tax I may be lucky and find my car was sitting in a showroom for a year and not sold . How do I find out .

You've a good chance that yours is 1976 manufacture, Derek. Mine was registered 19/7/77 but built (according to Heritage Cert) on 10/9/76. Commission No LD 42830.

Apparently, you need the full Heritage Cert to convince the DVLA (or PO on their behalf), but money well spent if you can save ~£250
