I have a strong smell of petrol in my car which I have just bought, its been in storage for 10 years so I'm beginning to re-commission it. I will be replacing all fuel hoses in time but the smell is worse in the boot and I'm not sure I have all the breather hoses in there. unfortunately I cannot upload the picture as it is too big but the long metal pipe attached to the fuel filler is there but there is another small outlet on the top of the tank that has no hose or anything attached to it. Am I missing something ?

Thanks for this guys, I have the line drawing but it doesn't make a lot of sense. The other day I brim filled my tank for the first time and then it started to strongly smell of petrol. I removed the boot side panel, boot floor carpet and the board underneath.
What I found was the well around the fuel sender was full of petrol as the stub pipe had vented into it. Amongst the c**p was a soft plug of white bath sealer, which I am guessing was the previous owners attempt to plug the stub pipe.
On checking in the offside wing I found a series of disconnected hoses and the fuel/flame trap.
Could some super person possibly post some pictures of the correct runs for the various hoses please? Thanks in advance.Last edited by Carboy0; 21 September 2016, 20:31.Chris

Keith thanks for that, most helpful. I have saved all the pics for future reference. Guess what I am doing this weekend? 😃
Mods the link that Keith supplied is really helpful. Is there a tech archive that it could be saved to. No doubt someone new will be asking again next week.Chris
