Crunching reverse gear

Hello all, I'm new to stag club and hoping for some help......please
I have recently managed to finally buy my second Stag, although my last one was 28 yrs ago!!! And when I select reverse ( after stopping moving forward) it crunches going into gear.
Can anyone help with similar problems or is this an adjustment prior to a major investigation

What speed does your engine idle at. Is it any better if you select 1st before you select reverse?

You need to go to settings then on the left of the screen you will see some edit options.

In my experience the problem is usually the clutch failing to clear correctly, often due to contamination. First has a synchro that will stop the gears spinning, but reverse is a spur gear that has an intermediate gear (idler) shoved in without that luxury. This crunching will eventually bugger things up by knocking teeth off.

You could try moving the clevis pin/pushrods to the top hole on the clutch arm, and see what happens. Also the clevis pin between the pedal and clutch master wears alarmingly, and you lose a lot of clutch movement here - worth checking by hand how much the pedal moved freely before pressure happens, and look/feel the pivot to see if there is too much play. It's easy to change so could be a nice quick fix

thanks Russ, i will try the clevis pin check, once its off the axle stands for the rear suspension replacement that im doing now
