    J type overdrive

I'm trying to replace the rear oil seal on the overdrive with it still in the car. I have removed the propshaft and can get to drive flange nut but having trouble finding the right socket for it.....anyone know the size of it, nothing in the manual.

15/16" or 24mm if I remember correctly Tim - you may struggle to undo it without the flange holding tool though - have the proper one here if you need it mate

Cheers Russ I've managed to measure it and it's 29mm I've got a socket now but the flange holding tool would be useful..... I'm using a pair of steelsons at the moment! If your around tomorrow I could pop over in the morning.

Sure mate - got an early morning MRI then going up town for lunch with rellies - can always leave it out in a safe place if you can't make it over when I'm home

Send me a text and we can sort something out

No, no, no - it'll just come out somewhere else !! This is 1970's technology! And, how bored would you be of you stopped all the oil leaks - nothing to do in an evening.

Ahh that wonderful smell of burnt hypoy 90 gear oil - you just can't get these treats from modern cars - they don't make 'em like they used to, you know!
