Hi
As some of my grandchildren are coming to stay in a couple of weeks I decided to look into the fitting of the rear seat belts I had bought (Tony Hart).
So for the first time I removed the rear seat.
The first thing I found was that the 2 captive nuts for mounting the centre buckles are non existent nor look as though they ever existed. It certainly looks from the welding that the seatpan is a replacement panel. Were/are replacement panels supplied without these captive nuts fitted such that it was down to the restorer to reinstate them? Have not yet been under to check but from memory it seems this might not be a readily accessible place to get a bolt through a drilled hole to mount the centre buckles?
Notwithstanding the seatbelt issue I found some other problems.
At the front of the seat pan there are 5 holes that I assume are for drainage of any water that gets into the hood well? A PO (not the immediate previous) had decided to seal these with a silicone sealant and at some time some water had obviously drained to this point and there was a fair amount of luckily only surface rust that could easily be removed with a wire brush.
The underside of the seat squab was a mess. The fibrous stuffing (Choir?) is held in by a flimsy torn polythene sheet only. I have some decent polythene that I bought to replace the door lining and could easily use this to replace the existing polythene. However I think there aught to be some sort of webbing or rubber strapping. Does anyone have a photo or link to a photo of the underside of the seat squab as it should be?
Any observations info/advice greatly appreciated.
