    Oil in carbs

    Hi all,
how often do you top up carburettors with oil, I don,t go far but I seem to be forever topping them up.
l use 3 in one or is there a better oil to use. Many thanks Steve.

If you are frequently topping that oil up it means the little O rings that seal the jet adjuster nuts at the base of the dashpot need replacing. That is where it leaks out.
Header tanks - you can't beat a bit of bling.

The Triumph Stag manual recommends 20W50 engine oil; the same stuff you use one the engine.

The o-rings are easy enough to change. The method is described in the Repair Operations Manual.

But if you use 20/50 oil instead of 3 in 1, you may get away without changing the seals/O-rings as 20/50 is considerably thicker (heavier viscosity whatever) so won't leak past as much, if at all. Costs nowt to try it!
