Wind deflector support brackets advise please

Hi All, I have a Boss deflector fitted to my Stag and it is fine but does tend to vibrate a bit which is annoying. I noticed in the last newsletter there were a couple of Stags in the pictures which had brackets fitted round the rear of the T bar to obviously hold their deflectors securely.

Can anyone help with such a device or point me in the right direction please. Ta Keith.

Standard fitting of Bosscreen is to use wide Velcro straps that go through the slots in the screen and round the T-Bar. Can take a picture or two if you like.

    Cheers

Hi Gord thanks for the info. There aren't any slots in my screen so I imagine I need to make some.
A picture would be great, thanks .

        Hi Keith

Are you sure you have a Bosscreen? I hadnt heard of them without the velcro slot. Anyway, here are some shots of mine. The first is the screen fitted with no velcro fitted, next is one of the slots cut in the perspex (there are two altogether), next one is of the velcro. You need a strip of both types (the plastic hook side and the hairy material side. Overlap a section of one over the other (next picture). Next picture shows how they attach when fitted. Final picture shows how it is fitted over the T-Bar.

        Hope this helps.

        Cheers

        Gord

Hi Gord, I have made a few enquiries and realised that my screen is obviously a replica of a boss made by another firm and sold by rimmers!!

But... I can adapt and thanks.

          Keith.

I have same screen, also purchased from the bros. Seems ok as it is but do like the idea of extra security.

Hi Ray, After I have made a couple of holes in my screen I can let you know how I get on if you want. Keith

Hi Keith, I made mine from the ground up. It is a light gray tint perspex. Around the circumference I used a adhesive backed foam strip and it is secured to the roll bar with four Velcro ties. The Tart Screen (as called in NZ) stays in place all the time and doesn't interfere with operation of the hood. I used the B pillar hardtop catches to secure the bottom outside corners but hindsight shows a straight pin into the catch holes would be fine. The torneau (wife made) is attached to the screen via a length of alloy angle and a small caravan type awning channel.
                  Cheers Ian A

Sounds very similar to the one I made. I do however have a problem with stowing the hood. I do not fancy the idea of ever having to take the mohair off to have the somewhat flimsy zip replaced so I always undo the rear catch and unzip the rear screen before stowing. I can't do this with the screen and tonneau in place despite many years of yoga practice!
Also, if making a tonneau, buy enough vinyl so that it drapes down from the alloy bar to the floor. It doesn't seem to need any fixing and provides visual security for the shopping on the back seat while you are getting your coffee..... The two area of vinyl provide some scratch protection for both sides of the screen when in storage.

Hi Ray. I am in conflict with Rimmers at the moment. They say that someone has 'deemed' that slots are not needed!!

I was at a meet with 16 other stags a short time ago, most had screens fitted of various makes and ALL were strapped to the T Bar!

I will let you know how I get on if you wish.

                      Keith.

I bought a Rimmers screen years ago, the top banged against the T bar at speed. Cut two slots in the screen and strapped round T bar with Velcro straps. No more banging, I would deem straps necessary.

Thanks for the info - I am thinking that I will probably have to just cut two slots myself - can you give me any advise on cutting them out of the screen please as I don't want to damage it!!

                              Cheers Keith.
