    Ok, thats it......

I left the f^&cking headlight on yet again tonite. Jump started again.

Now in thinking of having the headlights turn off with the ignition. Anyone done this ?

I had a similar problem with our GT6 so I wired a buzzer in which sounds if the side or headlights are on and the interior light is activated i.e when the door is opened. A simple solution.

There are lights-on warning systems out there, otherwise you could use a relay or two or three to switch the lights off with the ignition. My calc of the full lighting load is ~22A (no spots or fogs) - I'd have reservations about using a 30A relay for this duty as, at the moment of switch-on, the cold filaments in the lights present a very high load, well in excess of their normal rating, so would expect a very short life of the contacts if a single relay was used on the feed to the lighting switch.

Just a point here - I think including the sidelights in an ignition-controlled system might be in contravention of Construction & Use Regs and thus an MOT fail. If they're not included, then I'd expect they could flatten a good battery in less than a day.

Fitting a warning system (linked to door opening) is on my list

This is the warning buzzer circuit I used (MK1 - if yours is MK2 you won't need the additional relay): The buzzer (well actually a warble) sounds if the driver's door is opened with the lights on and the ignition off and it's saved me from flat batteries on several occasions.

You can get the buzzer from lots of places (such as http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Durite-Lig...-/221303241281)
