    "You Tube"

I know several Forum members have experience in posting video footage on You Tube. I would like to have a go myself, but have only ever viewed & never posted anything on You Tube. How do I go about getting started - is there a good easy to follow start-up guide on the You Tube Website itself, or can someone recommend a better simpler way of doing it & send me details. I have a good video editing package I can use to edit/trim down any footage I want to post (used previously to edit my daughter's Wedding video). I have some video footage relating to topics recently mentioned on the Forum that might be of interest to other members (eg. footage taken at a previous Transport Festival/Llandudno Extravaganza). I also aim to take the camcorder out on one of our future Tenerife "razzles" in the Stag (when we go exploring new places), and could put that on You Tube as well as the area around where we live.

Thank you in anticipation of your responses.

Beware that larger files can take ages to upload, some of my Prescott footage had to be left overnight.

Thanks Gazza & Kevin, will have a go at making a start tomorrow. I thought there was a restrictive time limit on what you could post - but from what you say there isn't.
When I've got something posted worth viewing, will put a reference to it on this Forum.

I think your limited to 10min clips, but you can post as many as you like.

As Kevin said they take a long time. When I did V8 Burble I couldn't get it to work on the laptop via wireless but it worked ok on the desktop hardwired.

To Gazza & Kevin, Thanks for info to-date. Have registered with YouTube and attempted my 1st upload but having problems. The 6 minute clip I am attempting to upload says it is uploading but has been running for more than 12 hours. Surely this can't be right. I am using an ADSL line (not dial-up). There appears to be no indication as to how much has uploaded so far, or how much there is still to go. What sort of times have you experienced? I suspect my upload is looping (it is not stopped) and I may have to abandon it soon (it's been running all night). Any advice first?

Never tried something as big as 6 minutes but it does take forever even with broadband.I have problems with the pc going into power saving mode halfway through so i usually do it along side other things on the pc so it doesn't bomb out .

                Steve

Having said that 12 hours does seem a bit too long.

What file type do you suggest - I am at the experimental stage at the moment.
The clip I am trying to upload was originally taken at Llandudno Transport Festival some 10 years ago & includes a few Stags that were there. It was taken on an old Hi-8 camcorder, edited & converted to VHS tape, then more recently copied onto DVD (DVD-RW). I have further edited the DVD using AVS Video Editor to get it down to 6 minutes. I created a new DVD disk (Mpeg2 format) which ran for well over 12 hours when I tried to upload it before eventually abandoning it.
I have since run AVS VideoEditor again - this time creating the output as MPEG4 format (YouTube says this is the preferred format). The disk created this time ended up as Project1MPEG4.av1, and I am now trying to upload this and it has been running for about an hour. My ADSL line when I just checked it using a broadband speed test is saying I am getting 0.9MB Download Speed & only 0.26 Upload Speed. Anything faster than 1MB speed is not available where I live at the moment. Will let you know if I have any further sucess this time, I'm going to leave it running whilst I'm out for a Meal & a few Pints.
As your interested in Groups etc. have you ever heard of a guy called "Morgan" who used to front a Group in Oldham but currently doing a Solo act & is on all this weekend in Los Cristianos at a place called "Summer Nites" - he's very good and sings all sorts of music from ballads to pop & rock. Summer Nites have a Website with a webcam & you will be able to see him after 10pm tonight if you log on - no sound though only video. Might end up there for his 2nd session which starts about 11.30pm.

As it's my 1st attempt and it's an old recording I apologise in advance for the quality of the recording - it's been through quite a few conversion processes - from Hi-8 to VHS to DVD etc.

Hope I've posted the link to it correctly. If not the Title is " Llandudno Festival of Transport c. 1999 "

Spot the Stags - I wonder whose they are & if they are still around. The one shown right at the end of the video is mine - parked on the street just outside the showground.
