Firstly, I know that there are threads on the forum about painting but none seem to answer my question.
I'm restoring a door, it was an eBay find, absolutely sound but a lot of surface rust. To get it cleaned up I blasted back to bare metal then coated in Bilt Hamber Electrox followed by Epoxy Mastic also from BH - I want the door to last. Over that is high build primer which has been flatted back and there is little of that left after sanding.
Over the weekend I sprayed the door with 3 coats of cellulose and got a reasonable finish for a first attempt. Question is how long to leave the paint before floating and finishing? None of the base coats are cellulose and should be immune from shrinkage which is different to the build up in other threads.
Once I've got the door done I'll spot repair some blemishes using a similar technique.
Any advice gratefully received.
