    Mk1 and mk2 seats difference

Apart from the obvious lack of headrest on the mk1 is there any other difference? My mk2 Nov 73 stag has no headrest so assume mk1 seats. I need to buy new foam and don't know if mk1 and2 are the same foam.
    Any help would be appreciated.

As far as I know. Bases are the same foam, but back parts are different due to the length of the back rest. Someone like Aldridge trimming would know best (other trimmers are available!)

The Mk1 seat has a 3 piece back and the Mk 2 is a single piece. I got foams from EJ Ward and there is a difference probably down to the different construction and head rest slot.

Even without a headrest, the Mk1 has a very obvious insert at the top of the backrest.

Yes the only difference is the back part of the seat.. ie the head backrest built into the back part of the seat that should will go up and down.. My self my stag is a MK2 but i am head hunting a good MK1 set of seats only for the reason my self for cosmetic looks.. The seats i have now are in good condition but as above i like the look of the MK1

The covers are different too. Mk1 has 9 panels of basket weave in the base and back. Mk2 has 10.

That was the headrest for the American market I believe, on UK seats it's just a fixed panel.

Exactly - for UK you just get a small insert which 'fills the gap'; for US this is a taller insert making a fixed headrest. The UK insert is retained by the same bolts that are used to retain the extended insert/headrest for the US.

Useful point, I'm about to reupholster my seats and change the covers. Also explains what the 3rd piece is on the Mk1.

I managed to get the ''Federal'' headrests for my Mk1 and Aldridge did the foams and covers for it when I refurbished mine.
