Biting the bullet.... it's restoration time.

I've been enjoying the use of my 1971 Stag since February, but the more I use her the more I find wrong... and when I try to fix things the more age related problems I find, to the point where I'm struggling to keep up and I'm not doing her justice!! So I've decided to bite the proverbial bullet and try to get her restored by someone who doesn't just lie underneath her wondering what to do next!

Does anyone know of, or better still have first hand experience of a good restoration business in the Bristol area that can sort out any or all of the crumbling bits of bodywork, the sagging interior, and the age related incontinence?

If would recommend Stag Classics in Four Marks, Alton who have just done mine. They are not that close to Bristol but, equally, not hundreds of miles away oop north.

First class work and good service in my experience.

I used http://jbmotorsltd.co.uk for my prep and paint and would trust any classic car with them.

I've been meaning to join you on a Wednesday Richard but it clashes with rugby training ( both my lads... I'm too old and fat!!)

Come on where is your spirit of adventure, think of the journey back in your restored pride and joy! I was down there today, and there were four Stags in the workshop, two outside.......they are busy for a reason.

It's only 75 miles from Bristol! Where's your spirit? I did double that as a shakedown after replacing the head gaskets....and more recently 900 miles to The Hague and back.

Mine was restored in Plymouth, 45 miles away. That drive home was a great feeling.

My spirit is still in the bottle it's the drive to the restoration that worries me, not the drive home!! Although I have enjoyed every outing so far (400+ miles since purchasing in Feb, but in easy to manage and not too far for the missus & kids to push home steps!!)
