    Dodgy timing chain....

Thanks Milodog (Ian) for spotting my dodgy timing chain at my BBQ.
It's one of those timing chains with the push together link like you find on a cheap bicycle chain.
I looked through the comprehensive receipt folder that came with the Stag, and it has had timing chains supplied and fitted by James Paddock in the past.
I will buy the IWIS chains from LD part, and Bob has kindly offered to help me fit them.

    Hi Dave.
When I got my stag it was fitted with split link chains. I also changed them and fitted the Iwis chains from LD parts.
    Cheers
    Rob.

They were common back in the day. At least it's fitted running in the correct direction. Fitted incorrectly it could rub then undo itself.
I wouldn't trust it on a bike either

Unless I have read the piccies wrong Dave it looks like the link is fitted against the direction of rotation, Good shout Ian

Photo is taken of the left head, looking from the rear of the engine forward.

To many Sangrias Graham. I was turning my phone upside down trying to work it out.
Edit And I'm still not sure.

Your welcome Dave, it was fortunate on your part that the engine was in the position it was otherwise it may have gone unnoticed Personally and if it were mine I would change the whole lot including the sprockets for peace of mind.

                Thanks again for great afternoon.

                Ian.

                Thanks
