Bruce - don't listen to them! They are useful ... just not on the car.

Get a large deep photo frame and mount them on your lounge wall (the bit over the fireplace)

When your restoration is finished, it will be your only momento of the past and all the rust

A top suggestion

I have decided to fit them to other car and take the good ones off that and use them for the rebuild. After all, the other car will end up just being a rolling shell by the time I have finished robbing it.
