    Ching Ching

    Hi

One of my targets this winter is to try to remove or at least minimise squeaks and rattles in the Stag. A preliminary look around has indicated where most are coming from but one is eluding me.

If I drive over a reasonable bump or imperfection in the road surface then I get a "ching ching" type noise from the front suspension. Have had a good look round with the car jacked up and wheels off but can see nothing obvious. One assumes cannot be serious as not long passed MOT

No I have not fitted cheap chinese parts or run over a pekinese dog!

    Any ideas

    TIA

I fitted bling brake dust shields to mine and they make exactly the noise you described. I can trigger it when kicking the front tyre too!

Give the wheel centre discs a tap with your finger, it's surprising how noisy they are if they are loose and rattling.

I would go with Drew and say look at the brake shields. They run very close to the discs and are easily knocked. If they run too close the slight play in the wheel bearing can bring into contact with brake disc and make a ching sound as you describe - well it did on mine. I just "teased" them away from the disc a little bit and the noise was gone.

my brother complained about the brake dust shields, the ones i fitted to mine have a bent over edge to stop them flapping around, but the ones he bought are just a flat edge, are they the same as type as you bought
