Fuel pump mystery - advice please

    Hi All,

I have replumbed the fuel overflow piping and sealed of the stubby 'PI' return vent on the top of the tank - all good.

Whilst checking for leaks in the boot I listened to the fuel pump, which sounds like,"tick, tick, pause, pause, tick, tick, pause, pause etc. etc."

I checked the clear fuel filter under the bonnet and sure enough you can see "pulse, pulse, pause, pause etc. etc."

This barely fills the filter half full. I have checked the voltage at the pump and it is rock steady 13.7v at tickover and at 2000rpm, so I guess it's not a voltage problem.

I had noticed when driving that if I gave it a boot full of throttle, that she will bog for a split second before picking up, but this may not be connected.

So my question is ; is the fuel pump acting normally or is it failing? Pic below.

This is normal pump behaviour. It only pumps when there's sufficient pressure drop (space) in the system.
