I replaced both my battery and alternator recently with 80amp rated ones.
Had to shop around here in Tenerife to find an 80amp battery that just fits in the Stag space with little to spare,
and the 80amp alternator came from Wards in the U.K. No expert but I would say go for the highest rating
one you can.

I used a red top for about 8 years but after much abuse it died which I can't complain about because latterly I didn't look after it as it should have been, and take the view that its demise was my fault Having said that it was an impressive battery which gave me very good service over the 8 years. My error was I left the Red Top in a car which had sonic alarm senders and ,being left too long despite occasional chargings, drained the battery completely, too often, and ultimately the charge wouldn't take in 1 cell.
I have replaced it with an Optima Yellowtop battery which in comparison is still in its infancy but I get the impression it is a better performer than the Red Top. Both batteries return good performance after sitting idle for a long time without being used / recharged, and both easily turn over the RV8 engine, don't know about the lesser V8
.
Reading the Optima blurb, when looking for the replacement, I took the view that the yellow top was more suited to my Stag application than the Red Top.
I wouldn't replace the battery in my daily driver with either because it gets used frequently enough that a less expensive standard battery would suffice.
My views are subjective.

We fitted and operated some of these on our fleet (Buses) at works some 5 years ago. Yellow top AGM Spiral cell were recommended and they performed well under all operating conditions. The only thing I can remember is when they failed it was instant rather than performance dropping off slowly. The final choice did end up with using SLI lead -acid though manufactured by YUASA. This was decided on a combination of cost. performance, supply and manufacture support.
