Ah well, as they say, your mileage may vary. I've done it a few times with a 2.5PI, same bumper mountings and similar bumpers.

I do like Dieter's solution though, but what about the rear?

Switch off the ignition and reset the switch and turn the ignition back on. this will sometimes flush any debris and cure the problem. you may need to do it a couple times but if successful you will be able to drive the car safely again.

On mine the towbar incorporates a towing ring and the front I have built a towing link bolted back to the cross member with a removable front section with the ring on it. When fitted it comes out just under the TR6 spoiler so should the car need towing without any damage. So far I've haven't needed it.

Three photos as requested. As you will see the lower fan guard has been removed as the viscous fan has been removed. The towbar has been bolted through the cross member and a support across the underside of the front tray. The front ring piece is bolted through with 2 5/16 UNF bolts which lives under the hood until needed.
                Cheers Ian A

As a new owner you have discovered the problem of the angled Stromberg carbs fitted to the Stag. Basically the needle valves do operate at a stupid angle, should be vertical for best operation, secondly there is a tendency for the average driver not to bother to use the correct octane fuel, or use Redex which will help with the first problem.
I have overhauled my carbs and fitted "Grose" ball valves obtainable from Moss U.K. and the overflow problem has been solved. There is a problem in fitting the 'Grose' Ball valves in that the threads on the valve body do not match exactly with the internal thread in the carb body, same pitch different thread angle, hence there is a tendency for seizure when screwing in place. I found that a careful dressing of the Grose ball valve body threads with a triangular needle file solves this discrepancy.
                  Best of luck
                  Andy

Andy, The ones sold by Leacy Classics for the Stag fit perfectly.
