Oddity about fuel spil from overflow

Diagnosing a heavy fuel spillage out of the overflow pipe I took the pedestal off to remove the float chambers.

I discovered that the pedestal 'O' ring was only half there, god only knows where the rest had disappeared to. I put a new one in place, sealed it with Hylomar and the fuel spill has stopped.

I did order a fuel pressure regulator which arrived today so I'll fit that anyway, I have the LD Parts electronic pump which might be too butch for my Strombergs.

Just a bit of information which might help someone sometime :-)

(Shame I can't edit the title when the hand / keyboard interface has had a glitch)

    Hi
I had problems with fuel overflowing even after having changed valves three times, I installed a fuel regulator 4 years ago and never had any carb problems since (touch wood). As you say I think the non standard pumps have to much pressure.
