Whilst driving my Stag in Spain, I experienced what I think was fuel vapourisation. When restarting after a hot fast run there was a noticeable misfire on several cylinders which cleared after about 10-15 secs. It also occurred when on tickover in traffic. Any thoughts on how to cure it?

Never had that problem in nearly 13 years of running the Stag in Tenerife, it is only if I leave the car without starting it for more than a week it sometimes takes a while to fire up, whereas normally it fires on the first turn of the key.Originally posted by GTStag View PostWhilst driving my Stag in Spain, I experienced what I think was fuel vapourisation. There's been a recent thread with similar symptoms. In this and other referred cases, the problem seemed to be either a dodgy electronic ignition or coil starting to break down. Will try and find the thread.Originally posted by GTStag View PostWhilst driving my Stag in Spain, I experienced what I think was fuel vapourisation. That might have been my thread. My Stag started to occasionally misfire a couple of months ago. It then progressed on to the engine cutting out for a few seconds when driving along and then a couple of weeks later it died completely, again whilst driving along normally. It was the magnetic electronic ignition sensor that replaced the points inside the distributor that was packing up and ultimately failed. If you have the same type of electronic ignition your misfire starts to progress in similar fashion then you could well be suffering the same problem. One thing I did notice was that the ignition light came on when the engine cut out. I don't know if that would happen with fuel starvation.Originally posted by StagJonno View PostThere's been a recent thread with similar symptoms. Is it in Spain all the time or did you drive it over?Originally posted by GTStag View PostWhilst driving my Stag in Spain, I experienced what I think was fuel vapourisation. Following on from what I said in post #2, as I was feeling a little better today I decided to use the Stag to go for a game of snooker.
Hadn't touched the car for over a week and when I tried to start her up turned over fine but just wouldn't fire at first.
Waited a few seconds and tried again and it did fire up and I am sure it is something to do with the fuel in the carbs going off somewhat if left for any length of time and the fact that the car is sat in the hot Sun in the car park every day.
After my game the car started first time again as there was now new fuel in the carbs.
By the way I must be feeling somewhat better as I won the match 5 frames to nil which is quite rare.
It could be though that it is because I can't drink alcohol at the moment whilst I am on steroids as my aim
does seem to be much better since I gave up drinking!?

I remember a pro coming to play at our social club. We always complained of the " tight pockets " his name was cliff Wilson I then witnessed this 70 year old retired pro knock in a 80 break. We were speechless

A couple of years ago Jimmy White came to the "Legends" Bar where I play and took on 10 regulars and gave an exhibition.Originally posted by edd View PostIf your on steroids then I hope you cleared it with the ioc and world snooker organisation.

He is getting on a bit now and has put on a fair bit of weight, but that didn't stop him beating all his apponents with ease and knocking in high breaks, but he did say that the pockets were too tight confirming the regulars opinions.
Jimmy was as nice as pie and would pose for as many pictures as people wanted with him. I didn't play him but my cousin did and got complimented by Jimmy as being his best opponent of the night. Although still young my cousin died of a sudden illness just last year, but whilst alive never forgot the day he played Jimmy White.
